She was born in 1922 in Traverse City, Michigan. She earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Michigan State University. She worked as a chemist until she retired in 1988, spending time on activities and hobbies she loved, including duplicate bridge and photography.

Virginia was a modest supporter of Thomas Aquinas College during her life. Once, when a student called to thank her for her support, she offered this piece of valuable advice: study hard.

Virginia created her legacy through an extraordinary $1.5 million gift to Thomas Aquinas College in her will. Her legacy lives on through the students, faculty, and leadership of Thomas Aquinas College.
